DISCLAIMER

Effective Date: As approved by the Board of Trustees  |  Last Updated: 01.10.2026

1. General Disclaimer

The website https://advocatecouncilofindia.org/ is operated by Advocate Council of India (ACI), an independent public charitable trust established to promote legal education, professional development, legal awareness, research, training and initiatives supporting access to justice.

The information, materials, courses, resources, announcements and services made available through this website are intended for educational, informational and institutional purposes, subject to the terms applicable to each service.

By accessing or using this website, users acknowledge this Disclaimer and should read it together with ACI’s Terms and Conditions, Privacy Policy, Refund Policy and Governance, Rules & Regulations.

2. Institutional Identity and Independence

Advocate Council of India is an independent public charitable trust. Its educational initiative uses the institutional branding “India’s Digital National Legal Academy.”

This description is a branding and educational initiative only. ACI is not the Bar Council of India, a State Bar Council, a court, a government department or a university. Unless expressly authorised under applicable law, ACI does not exercise statutory regulatory powers, enrol advocates, grant licences to practise law or confer statutory professional qualifications.

Membership, participation in an ACI programme, association with ACI or receipt of an ACI certificate must not be represented as government recognition, Bar Council approval, university affiliation or statutory accreditation unless such status has been formally granted by the competent authority.

3. Legal Information Is Not Individualised Legal Advice

Articles, blogs, videos, presentations, course materials, publications, FAQs and other legal information available through ACI are provided for general informational and educational purposes.

Such materials may discuss legislation, judicial decisions, legal procedures, rights, remedies and developments in law. They are not a substitute for legal advice based on the facts, documents, jurisdiction and circumstances of an individual matter.

Laws, rules, procedures, judicial interpretations and administrative practices may change. Information may also be incomplete or may not address every exception applicable to a particular case.

Users should independently verify relevant information against current legislation, official notifications, applicable rules and authoritative judicial decisions. Where necessary, users should consult a qualified and appropriately enrolled advocate or other competent professional.

No advocate-client relationship is created merely by visiting the website, reading its content, attending a general educational session or submitting a general enquiry.

4. Legal Relief Portal and Access-to-Justice Initiatives

ACI may provide a Legal Relief Portal or other channels through which individuals can submit requests for legal information, assistance or possible connection with an appropriate professional.

Submission of a request does not guarantee that ACI will accept the matter, provide representation, identify an available advocate, arrange a consultation or secure any particular result.

Any assistance or screening is subject to the nature of the request, available resources, verification, conflict considerations, applicable law and ACI’s operational procedures.

Where an independent advocate is engaged, the advocate-client relationship, scope of work, professional fees and other engagement conditions must be agreed separately between the relevant parties.

ACI does not guarantee that a complaint will be accepted by an authority, a petition will be filed, a matter will be listed, bail will be granted, a dispute will be resolved or any court or authority will reach a particular decision.

Users should not delay limitation-sensitive filings, urgent court applications, statutory appeals or other time-bound legal steps while waiting for a response through ACI.

ACI does not offer the sale of legal clients, paid legal-client referrals or commission-sharing arrangements based on advocates’ professional fees.

5. Educational Programmes and Certificates

ACI may offer courses, training programmes, workshops, seminars, webinars, mentorship initiatives, study materials and other educational activities.

Course descriptions, instructors, duration, curriculum, fees, access conditions and completion requirements are governed by the information published for the relevant programme.

Unless expressly recognised by a competent authority under applicable law, a certificate issued by ACI represents participation in or completion of the relevant programme, subject to its stated requirements.

An ACI certificate does not independently constitute a university degree, statutory qualification, professional licence, Bar Council enrolment or entitlement to practise law.

Participation in an ACI programme does not guarantee employment, professional advancement, income, clients, case assignments, internships, examination success or any other particular outcome.

6. Membership and Professional Benefits

ACI may offer different membership categories and associated facilities, subject to the published eligibility requirements and membership terms.

Membership may provide access to specified resources, educational programmes, events, networking opportunities, mentorship initiatives or other stated benefits.

However, membership does not guarantee clients, referrals, employment, income, professional recognition, selection for opportunities, appointment to any office or admission to any professional body.

Members are responsible for accurately representing their membership and must not imply that it constitutes a statutory appointment, government endorsement or regulatory licence.

7. Legal Ethics and Professional Independence

ACI supports legal education, professional development, ethical conduct and access to justice.

Any advocate participating in ACI activities remains independently responsible for complying with the Advocates Act, 1961, applicable Bar Council of India Rules, relevant State Bar Council requirements, court rules and other applicable professional obligations.

ACI’s educational, membership, promotional or digital facilities must not be used to circumvent professional-conduct rules governing advocates, including restrictions on advertising, solicitation and unauthorised practice of law.

ACI does not authorise members, affiliates, instructors or other participants to make misleading claims about professional standing, guarantee legal outcomes, sell legal-client referrals or engage in prohibited fee-sharing.

8. Job Listings, Internships and Opportunities

ACI may publish job vacancies, internships, fellowships, volunteering opportunities, calls for papers, research opportunities and other listings received from third parties or institutional collaborators.

Unless expressly stated otherwise, such listings are provided to facilitate access to information. ACI does not guarantee the authenticity of every third-party representation, the suitability of an opportunity, an interview, selection, appointment, remuneration or continued availability.

Users should independently verify the identity and credentials of the relevant organisation, the terms of an opportunity and any payment or documentation request before proceeding.

Employers and opportunity providers remain responsible for the accuracy and legality of their submissions. ACI may remove, restrict or seek verification of listings where reasonably necessary.

9. Third-Party Websites, Products and Services

The website may contain links to third-party websites, payment gateways, educational tools, service providers, publications, job portals or external resources.

Such third parties may operate under their own terms, privacy policies and procedures. ACI does not control all third-party content, representations, availability, security practices or service delivery.

A link or reference does not, by itself, constitute an endorsement, guarantee, partnership or certification by ACI.

Users should independently assess third-party information and review the applicable terms before relying on or purchasing any third-party service.

10. Accuracy, Completeness and Updates

ACI endeavours to maintain useful and reasonably accurate website information. However, information may become outdated, incomplete, unavailable or subject to correction.

ACI does not warrant that every item of information will always be current, exhaustive, error-free or suitable for every purpose.

ACI may update, revise, correct, remove or discontinue website content or services as reasonably necessary. Users should verify important legal, academic, financial or administrative information before acting upon it.

Nothing in this section excludes any obligation that cannot lawfully be excluded.

11. Website Availability and Technical Limitations

The website and its digital services may occasionally experience downtime, maintenance interruptions, technical errors, connectivity problems, hosting issues or cybersecurity incidents.

ACI endeavours to address material issues within its reasonable operational capacity but does not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free availability.

Users should maintain their own copies of important documents, payment confirmations and submissions where appropriate. For paid services, any applicable contractual, refund or consumer rights remain unaffected.

12. User-Submitted Information and Documents

Users are responsible for ensuring that the information and documents they submit through ACI are accurate and that they have the authority to provide them.

Users should not upload fabricated documents, knowingly false allegations, confidential information without authorisation or unnecessary sensitive personal information.

Submitting a document through a website form does not, by itself, establish that ACI has accepted responsibility for the matter or created a professional relationship.

Personal information will be handled in accordance with ACI’s Privacy Policy and applicable law.

13. Intellectual Property and Permitted Use

Unless otherwise indicated, website text, original publications, course materials, videos, graphics, branding, logos and other content are owned by ACI or used with appropriate permission or licence.

Users may access and use the materials for their permitted personal, educational or institutional purposes, subject to the applicable terms.

Unauthorised reproduction, distribution, commercial exploitation, alteration or publication of protected material may violate intellectual property rights and applicable law.

Third-party names, marks, logos and materials remain the property of their respective owners.

14. Limitation of Responsibility

To the extent permitted by applicable law, ACI shall not be responsible for loss arising solely from a user’s reliance on general information without appropriate verification, an independent third party’s acts or representations, unauthorised use of a user’s credentials, or circumstances beyond ACI’s reasonable control.

This Disclaimer does not exclude or limit liability for fraud, wilful misconduct, negligence or any other matter where such exclusion or limitation is prohibited by law.

It does not remove any statutory consumer right, contractual obligation or remedy that cannot lawfully be excluded.

15. Donations, Payments and Refunds

Donations, membership fees, course fees, event charges and other payments are subject to the terms applicable to the relevant transaction.

Donations are intended to support ACI’s stated charitable objectives and do not, by themselves, purchase legal services, employment, professional appointments or guaranteed benefits.

Refund requests, duplicate payments, failed transactions and cancellations will be considered in accordance with ACI’s Refund, Cancellation and Payment Policy and applicable law.

The Refund Policy is available at:

https://advocatecouncilofindia.org/refund-policy/

16. No Government or Institutional Endorsement

Unless expressly supported by a valid written authorisation or official record, references to institutions, public officials, professionals, speakers, partners, events or collaborators must not be interpreted as an endorsement of ACI by any government, court, statutory body, university or professional regulator.

Any partnership, recognition, affiliation or sponsorship claim must be supported by the relevant authorisation and must be represented accurately.

ACI does not claim statutory authority merely by providing educational services, publishing legal information or operating a digital platform.

17. Changes to This Disclaimer

ACI may update this Disclaimer from time to time to reflect changes in its activities, website services, operational requirements or applicable law.

The latest version will be published on this page with an updated date. Users should review it periodically.

Where notice or consent is required by applicable law, ACI will take the appropriate steps.
